Sufficient standing and experience to command authority and respect of academic and professional peers.

Knowledge and understanding of UK national benchmarks for maintaining academic standards and an understanding of fair and equal learning outcomes for all students.

Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications to at least the level of the qualification being externally examined.

Awareness with the standard expected of students to achieve the award that is to be examined and experience in enhancing the student learning experience.

Competence and experience relating to the design and operation of a variety of assessment tasks appropriate to the subject, sufficient recent examining/assessment experience preferably as an External examiner.
