Guidelines on Assignments,
Quizzes and Exams
The course employs a range of forms of assessment, including coursework, essays, short answer tests, creative, written and practical examinations. At the end of your fourth year you will write a final project (Independent Research Project, IRP) and take your Final Clinical Examination (FCE). Students who have passed the FCE are deemed to be qualified medical herbalists, and as such are able to gain insurance and join a Professional Association if they so wish.
Practical and written exams take place in January and May. The re-sits and resubmissions period is in July.
Please follow the instructions listed in the various sections of this document carefully. Failure to follow these may lead to a reduction in marks.

TURNITIN
All students are required to submit their assignments through Turnitin. An originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks your writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. When you submit your paper, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.
Please follow the advice and guidelines on the Turnitin page.
Plagiarism is an academic offence. If a student is suspected of plagiarism, they will be expected to appear before the academic misconduct board.
Turnitin cannot accept student submissions until the assignment start date which is one month before the deadline.
You may resubmit as many times as you wish leading up to the deadline.
Missed Deadlines (see below).
Marks are released on the ‘post date’ found by each assignment on Turnitin. This is usually 1 month after the deadline.
